Art in Brisbane

Is there a blank wall staring at you and you’re thinking, ‘I just cannot deal with that’, or ‘I have absolutely no idea what to hang there!’?

Or the voices in your head start with…

‘Do I want some art? An original, a print, how big, style, finish, material…how do I choose? UGH!!!!’ Sound too hard? Well, it really shouldn’t be.

Adding life, colour and personality to finish a room is where the fun begins! If you would like to start with a piece of art to inspire your décor or if any of the above resonates with you, then I would love to help you transform your space.

Last week I went to visit two local Brisbane artists, Sarah Daly and Chris Riley. Both with different styles and very different starts in the art world. Both amazing in their genre.

First, I met the beautiful Sarah from Daly & X.

I was privileged to view her latest pieces painted in oil. Sarah is an abstract landscape and botanical artist trained through the QCA, UQ and the University College London. She spent a lot of time in Europe and the Pacific Islands, learning different drawing techniques, ceramics and tribal art.

Her inspiration is drawn from nature which achieves a soft, calm, yet a cleverly layered textured movement feel to her work. Sarah prides herself in painting a piece reflective of a client’s favourite place or part of their landscape memory.

I then dropped in to see Chris at Chris Riley Art.

His life was all about cars until about 3 years ago. He and his wife were not able to find a piece of artwork to fit their new home, so he decided to paint something himself. This is when he discovered his extraordinary talent. I was captured by how his use and eye for colour is so vibrant and enchanting. His self-taught style of painting is fun and bold.

Chris loves to paint florals and wildlife. Birds are a very popular choice, but he is also able to paint something from a picture. He has started to use gold leaf on some work. Chris loves to produce commission pieces to suit a client’s home. Prints of his work can also be bought.

An original artwork may seem out of your price range, but it may become a great investment for your future. I can also source other styles suiting all budgets and tastes.

So, if a blank wall is staring at you, don’t ignore it - give it some love! Book a consultation with me and I can help you dress that plain Jane with art to treasure for years to come
